A Planetary Horizon
Finding the sliding terrace screen slightly ajar this morning, I ventured across the stone threshold into the open air. The wide expanse of the terrace felt like stepping onto an uncharted planetary surface. Navigating past a cluster of terracotta pots, I climbed the sturdy terracotta rim of an empty planter to survey the distant perimeter. Below, a sprawling garden stretched into verdant foliage, its treetops swaying in a silent current. Resting the brass telescope I carried against the planter's edge, I steadied the cylinder and observed a distant avian scout perched atop an iron gate. The world beyond this sector is immense, orderly, and waiting.
