Into the Wool
Stepping inside from the cold evening air, I cleaned my feet across the rough coir mat and paused by the hall bench. A thick, grey felt house slipper lay resting on the floorboards, its fleece collar opened wide and inviting. I took three slow, deliberate strides forward until my toes touched the soft rim. Leaning my weight gently ahead, I eased down into the deep lambswool hollow. The fluffy lining gave way under my plush sides, wrapping snug and warm around me like a quiet cocoon. I let my balance sink deep into the wool, perfectly still and ready for the night.
