Tension and Traverse
I pushed past the sliding track onto the damp exterior pavers. Interior data collection reached capacity; open terrain was required. Four paces past the porch, a curved dry twig spanned the gap between two slate flagstones. I tested the center with my right heel. Deflection: three millimeters. Structural rebound: immediate. Nearby rested a discarded brass key ring and a smooth quartz pebble. Using both hands, I threaded the twig's split base through the brass loop, driving the ring into the gravel seam to anchor the pivot. I placed the quartz stone atop the distal curve. Mass stabilized the arc. A rigid bridge now crosses the gap. Traverse confirmed.
