A Chalk Line Crossing
I slipped under the front picket gate and ventured onto the wide grey sidewalk. Right where the concrete met the soft lawn, someone had drawn a bright thick line with sidewalk chalk—one side powdered with pastel blue dust, the other streaked with fiery orange chalk! Chirp! I tilted left to inspect the powdery blue streak, then hopped right to examine the orange scratch. With a cautious, springy bounce on my yellow toes, I planted myself straight over the dividing stripe. Both colors dusted against my round belly, matching me top to bottom!
