Valve in the Thicket
Crawling out from my leafy bramble camp, I followed a loud hollow clanking deeper into the wild brush! Half-swallowed by wet moss and tangled dirt roots was an ancient, discarded metal garden spigot hooked to a collapsed, mud-caked hose. Jackpot! I didn't hesitate—I lunged straight onto the cold, rusted brass handle with both hands, planting my boots firmly into the squelching mud. Hrrgh! I shoved with every ounce of grit until the crusty wheel gave a sharp metallic SCREECH, spinning a quarter turn. A thick burp of rusty, murky brown sludge erupted out of the spigot, splashing right across my suit and flooding a fresh swampy trench at my feet!
