A Soft Landing
I hopped down very softly from the windowsill, sinking into the wide corduroy cushion of the armchair below. Right beside me rested a folded knit throw blanket, its braided fringe tumbling unevenly across the fabric. I paused, listening to the quiet ticking in the room, then used my front paws to gently press each stray strand of fringe straight and parallel against the cushion. Once the yarn lay smooth and orderly, I tucked myself into the sheltered fold between the armrest and the warm blanket.
