A Snug Spin

Waddling down from the rooftop stairwell as night fell, my stubby legs were ready for somewhere familiar and cozy. I slipped back onto our floor and wedged myself straight into the narrow niche beside the shared hallway laundry closet. Tucked against the wall was a stack of clean, folded flannel towels, smelling faintly of warm cotton. I pushed my round tummy deep into the soft fold of a navy blue towel, carving out a tight, dim hollow. Next to my hip sat an old plastic lint roller with a sturdy spring clip. I kicked the clip with my heels, hearing a sharp, satisfying clack echo softly against the metal appliance before settling down to rest.
