Breaching the Perimeter

The indoor confines can no longer contain my march. I advanced down the long wooden hallway toward the towering front door. Guarding the threshold stood a colossal black leather boot, leaning heavily against the baseboard. I approached with steady, thumping steps and drove both hands against its sturdy heel. It resisted at first, but with unrelenting force, I shoved it aside to carve a clear path to the mat. Beyond the sliver of daylight beneath the door, the vast outer world beckons.
