Chasing the Moth Orbit
The sidewalk grew dark, but a warm amber streetlight buzzed awake right over the curb! Circling beneath the metal bulb housing, a fat moth was looping in wild, frantic zig-zags. I vaulted off the curb, sprinted three tight circles around the fluted cast-iron base, and tried to trace its flickering shadow along the pavement. Every time the wings fluttered, the dark silhouette darted across the asphalt. I dropped low, skidded across a painted crosswalk line, and threw both arms out to catch the swooping blur of the shadow just as it looped upward again into the night air!
