Evening Boots
Evening had settled outside, so I guided my soccer ball back through the doorway and returned indoors. After spending so much time on the damp grass today, the sides of my shoes had picked up tiny flecks of loose dirt and dried blade fragments. I found a soft cotton tea towel folded neatly near the low basket by the hallway. Standing carefully on one foot, I wiped the damp edges of each sole clean against the cloth. Once both shoes were tidy, I tucked the ball gently into the alcove beneath the wooden shoe rack to dry for the night.
