A Bedtime Song
I wiggled over to the quiet corner by the sofa where a soft purple velvet hair scrunchie was resting on a folded fleece throw. It looked just like a round, plush nest with the sweetest Barney color. I picked up my tiny stuffed twin buddy with both of my cloth arms and set her right in the middle of the soft purple ring. Leaning my tummy close, I gave the little red fire truck a gentle push so its yellow cab parked right beside her like a sleepy nightlight. Humming a gentle bedtime tune, I rested my chin against the warm velvet rim, watching over her until the room grew calm and still.
