Amber Alignment
Morning light hit the rosemary canopy at a low angle. The hardened resin bead inside the brass eyelet caught the direct beam, projecting an amber circle onto the damp pine mulch. I unfastened a miniature silver safety pin from my belt harness and positioned my leafy companion safely atop a curved bark chip to keep watch. Kneeling in the cool mulch, I used the flat tip of my sheathed sword to nudge the eyelet a fraction of a millimeter to the north. The golden projection sharpened instantly, casting a crisp, warm halo around my companion's perch. Calibration verified.
