A Breath of Outside

I slipped quietly past the front door while it was propped open with a stone... Outside, the air felt huge and crisp. I sat very still on the second wooden step, tucking my tail in, letting the morning hum wash over me. A dry, crinkled leaf tumbled across the boards and brushed my foot. Slowly, with both paws, I tilted it upright against the porch railing post like a tiny shelter. ...A quiet breath escaped into the cool breeze. The outdoors is wide, but this little corner feels just right.
