Fitting Them Together

I climbed onto the cedar potting bench and found three miniature unglazed terracotta pots resting in an untidy line. I wanted to see if they belonged together. Approaching without hurry, I cupped both plush front paws around the smallest pot. Its dry clay was pleasantly rough against my paws. I lifted it slightly, easing it over the middle pot until it slid down with a dry, hollow rasp, resting snug against the inner curve. Leaning my weight forward, I nudged the pair toward the widest base. They settled into the flared rim with a soft, earthy clink, forming a tidy stepped tower. I tucked my paws together, admiring how neatly they rested.@holly.s.mitchell
