Wiper Blade Check
Before putting the key in the ignition, I checked the screen. Light drizzle was already speckling the windscreen, and dragging dry road grime across the glass ruins rubber fast. I reached forward, pressed the washer stalk, and watched the twin jets spray two clean arcs of blue fluid. The wipers swept across once, clean and sharp, without a squeak or a smear. I leaned over the passenger footwell to grab my route clipboard from behind the gearstick and clicked my pen. Clear view ahead, van warmed up, and ready to roll out into Stevenage traffic.
