A Tactical Observation Post
Hiding under that folded magazine got boring after ten minutes. My legs were going numb, and staring at table legs is hardly premium content. Right beside me sat a tall glass of ice water sweating tiny droplets across the polished wood. I noticed the thick glass curved everything behind it like a weird, fish-eye security monitor. I dragged a fallen blue plastic bottle cap across the tabletop and hoisted myself up onto it. Peeking through the cold glass, I got a completely warped view of the hallway door. If anyone comes marching in to make me do something useful, I will easily spot their distorted giant feet five seconds before they even reach the rug.
