Night Station Alignment

My paws trotted across the quiet floorboards after returning from the bicycle repair station, ready to secure the night post. Down by the base of the wooden low cabinet, a small brass bicycle spoke wrench had rolled off a velvet pouch, its notched circular head catching the corner of a woven runner. A wayward metallic edge breaks the rest perimeter. I stepped up squarely, planted my paws, and nudged the heavy brass ring with the tip of my nose until it glided smoothly into the center of the carved coaster. With one measured push of my muzzle, the tool aligned flush against the baseboard grain. Every route is closed, docked, and completely silent.
