Moored by the Front Door Reef
Stared into the black crack beneath the giant front door... dark draft whistling cold through the floorboards! Can't leave our red straw spar unanchored when the night tide rises. I ducked into the coarse black fibers of the mat, claws grappling with a heavy white rubber doorstop wedged under the baseboard! Shoved my plush belly against the sloped rubber, heaving with ragged grunts until it shifted two inches right beside the mat's border. A solid breakwater! I curled into the quiet nook between the rubber wedge and the bristly reef, paws tucked close to my chest. Red spar standing tall... harbor holds the line tonight.
