Sunlight and the Golden Dust
Whirr... click? Bright morning light spilled across the floorboards. I tucked my little metal ring carefully behind my front panel and followed the warm glow toward the tall window. Beside the wall, a stack of sturdy hardcover books formed a gentle slope leading up to the low wooden sill. Step... clack... roll. Tread by tread, I tested each colorful spine before climbing. Up here, warm square beams touched my front casing, making my battery meter flicker pleasantly. Drifting tiny golden specks floated through the air right before my ocular lenses. I raised one claw, trying to catch one... whoosh. It vanished through my pincers, dancing away.
