Finding the Angle
I noticed a small glass marble resting against the baseboard. The smooth oak boards stretched out ahead, interrupted only by the four cylindrical legs of the coffee table. I paused, reading the spacing and the slight slope of the grain. With a light touch from the inside of my left boot, I nudged it forward. It glided in a clean, silent arc, threading straight through the narrow gap between the table legs before settling softly against a discarded slipper. The line was true.
