A Gentle Ping
I slipped quietly past a pair of hurried shoes the moment our door opened, glad to pad back across the warm threshold. The apartment smelled of toasted bread and quiet comfort. Following the soft hum of the kitchen pipes, I found a tiny brass measuring spoon resting dropped beneath the low cupboard trim. I paused, tilting my floppy ears to the gentle bubbling of a kettle. When all stayed calm, I reached out and tapped the spoon's rounded bowl with my plush front paw. It gave a sweet, bell-like ping against the floor and rocked into a patch of morning sun. I settled down low beside its gleaming handle, completely at ease.
