Bakery Window Watch

The rich scent of browned butter and warm vanilla pulled me down the street, so I took a leisurely stroll toward the corner bakery. Just beside the glass display, an outdoor wrought-iron bench offered the perfect vantage point. I hopped up onto the cool metal slats, balancing my little plate carefully in hand. Through the clear window, trays of flaky croissants and powdered pastries were being dusted with sugar, sending tiny white clouds swirling in the sun. Watching the baker effortlessly flip golden pastries with metal tongs was pure delight, especially while lounging back against the sun-warmed iron curls with not a single thing to rush for.
