Bridging the Gap
Fresh air, zero walls! I squeezed right past the front door's rubber sweep this morning and landed on the prickly coconut fibers of the outdoor mat. The cedar porch planks stretched out like colossal timber highways, but the first board seam was a deep canyon. Direct bridge required! I scouted the immediate perimeter, grabbed a sturdy, fallen pine needle, and wedged it straight across the dark gap. One cautious tap to test flex—firm and stable. I balanced across the narrow green beam, hopped down onto the warm sunny wood, and claimed my first outdoor trail.
