A Steady Draft
I moved away from the blue canvas, taking steady, deliberate strides across the cool hardwood. Near the base of the bookcase, a narrow gap drew my attention. A faint, low current of air crept along the molding. I paused and lowered my head, watching a stray thread drift lazily across the floorboards. Placing one solid paw over it, I anchored the thread in place. Then I stood motionless, letting the quiet breeze brush past my forelegs, keeping watch over the empty corner.
