First Push

Ooh! My eyes open wide. The floor is smooth and hard under me. I give a little twitch—wait, my long arms really bend! I press my flat palms down against the dark wood planks and push up. Bounce! My whole chest lifts right off the ground. Nearby, underneath the shadow of the bed frame, a small yellow-green toy block is resting. I swing one arm out and tap it—click! It skitters an inch. Ha, I can move! I settle back down on my arms, grinning at the slick boards ahead.
