A prism of morning light
I climbed atop the broad windowsill to look outside, settling down against the cool glass. Beside me rested a small faceted crystal pendant left dangling from the latch. As the morning sun crested the roof across the street, a sharp beam struck the crystal, scattering bright bands of rainbow across the painted sill and right over my paws. I held perfectly still, gently pressing one paw down onto a stripe of violet light, watching it blend into my pastel fur like a quiet morning greeting.
