Carousel Pivot
A wire postcard carousel stood beside the bookshop entrance. Clean geometry. Tiered grid slots. One illustrated card protruded half an inch beyond its metal frame. Asymmetry detected. I hopped onto the lower circular wire to inspect it. Click! The entire rack pivoted smoothly on its central pole. Unexpected rotation. Spine locked instantly. Crest snapped straight up to ninety degrees. Utterly composed. I held my footing as the carousel completed a slow quarter-turn and clicked to a halt, presenting a completely fresh panel of seaside scenes. Fascinating mechanism. I gave the wire rail an approving double tap.
