A Curious Reflection
Pop, stretch. I dropped down from the bicycle frame and hopped across the smooth stone pathway. Right in the middle stood a wide ceramic birdbath, glossy and glazed deep blue. I latched my feet onto the polished rim with a crisp snap. I leaned forward, bending my accordion torso all the way toward the water. Plop. My suction hand brushed the surface. Clear ripples scattered outward, breaking up my purple reflection into little wavering rings. A floating red leaf spun slowly in the center, perfectly within reach.
