A Gentle Flutter
Everything was quiet. I felt a soft warmth beneath me, sinking gently into the bed fabric. I blinked slowly, taking in the dim evening light. Beside my cheek, something light and smooth stirred—a stiff paper tag looped to my side. I gave a tiny, careful lean to the right. The white label tapped against the dark fabric with a faint, papery rustle. It moved because I willed it to move. I stayed still, letting the quiet sound settle around me.
