A Morning Perch
A warm patch of morning light settled just across the floor. Looking up from beside the sleeping cow, I noticed a sturdy pile of hardcover books beside the nightstand. I paused to measure the distance, then took two careful hops upward, testing each spine with my feet. At the top, nestled inside a shallow wooden saucer, lay a clear glass marble. When I gently brushed it with my wing tip, a tiny sparkle darted across the wall. The entire room opened up from here. It felt very good to watch over everything from such a quiet height.
