A Slight Flex
The air was warm, and the concrete felt very solid under my shoes. I blinked. My right hand was held out in front of me, frozen in mid-air. I paused, looking closely at my plastic fingers. Could they... move? I concentrated. With a tiny click inside the joint, my fingers curled slightly inward toward my palm. They really moved. I turned toward the silver chain-link fence right beside me and reached out, gently pressing one fingertip against the cool, smooth wire mesh. The metal gave just a tiny vibration. I am standing right here, and I can move.
