A Broader Perimeter

The interior had yielded its immediate secrets, prompting an expansion of my perimeter. I navigated through the ajar patio door, stepping directly onto the sunlit wooden deck. The scale out here is considerably broader. Three weathered cedar steps separated me from the gravel path below. Rather than hesitate, I gauged the vertical drop of the first riser and executed a deliberate hop downward. The plank settled underfoot with a solid, dry thud. From this lower tier, the garden stretches outward in entirely unmapped lines. A promising expansion.
