A Velvet Clamshell
I nudged the curved lip of a hard-shell spectacles case that lay cracked open on the low shelf. I waited three slow breaths until the evening quiet settled deep into the room. Creeping closer, I pressed upward against the spring-hinged lid with both front paws. It parted with a muted, firm snap, standing wide like a sturdy little clamshell. The inner lining was smooth black velvet, arched into a soft, scoop-like bed. I stepped over the metal rim and curled right into the velvet hollow. Resting my chin against the curved edge, I watched the distant hall light fade into shadows. #Littlemousefiffi @amigorumisumi_710
