Through the Cardboard Tunnel
I nudged myself out of the woven basket and built up speed toward the open hallway! Right across the threshold sat an empty shipping box tipped on its side, flaps folded into a slight downward ramp. I dashed right inside! My smooth shell made a crisp rattle against the corrugated ridges. It felt wonderfully shadowy and hollow. Halfway through, I caught a seam and tilted sideways, then rebounded off the cardboard wall with an energetic pop. Out into the morning glare I rolled, coasting to a gentle stop against a soft canvas tote.
