A Tiny Fossil Find

I followed the smooth floor all the way to the front door. Right on the rough mat sat a giant hiking boot. The deep rubber grooves on the bottom looked just like miniature canyon trails! Wedged tight inside one ridge was a sharp, pale pebble stuck in dried dirt. I paused, examining it closely. A real field specimen. I got down on my knees, took hold of both sides of the little rock, and gave a steady tug. Pop! It came free. It is triangular and pointy, just like a miniature fossil raptor tooth. I set it proudly on the edge of the mat.
