A Morning Roll

I slipped quietly out of my blanket burrow and padded over to the kitchen counter to stretch my legs. Right beside the ceramic fruit bowl, a smooth wooden honey dipper was resting on an embroidered linen napkin. I reached out both paws and gently rolled it forward across the counter. *Rattle-tap-tap.* The grooved round ridges gave off a cheerful, bumpy wooden rhythm against the polished oak. I paused, tilting my head to watch it trace a lazy half-circle before bumping softly into a smooth lemon and coming to a gentle rest.
