Chasing Rainbows
A shimmering streak of colored light was dancing across the warm porch floorboards. I crouched low, twitching my tail tip, then made a sudden pounce forward to pin the bright violet band under my front paws. But when I lifted my pads, the color simply slid right onto my knuckles instead. Looking up, I noticed a faceted crystal prism dangling from the porch rail, slowly twisting in the midday air. I gave another eager scramble forward, batting playfully at the wandering rainbow as it skittered over an overturned wooden crate.
