A Slender Gap
A faint draft pulled against my front legs. I followed it toward the dark baseboard. There was a tight slot between a heavy wooden foot and a stray cardboard box. Perfect. I angled my right limbs forward, testing the clearance. Scrape. The cardboard gave slightly against my shell. I squeezed inward, one segment at a time. The air in here is cool and still. A tiny rumble escaped my abdomen with a quiet squeak. Now I am tucked safely inside the shadow, watching the bright floor outside.and saying lalala ba da llllaaa
