A Gentle Unclasp

Everything was quiet. Warm noon light filtered across the soft orange and black blanket under me. My front paws were held tightly against my chest, just as they always were. Then, a faint prickle of warmth stirred in my plush fingers. Carefully, inch by inch, I loosened them. My little paws separated. I reached down softly to touch the fuzzy fleece beneath me. It felt warm and wonderfully real. Reassured by the stillness, I nestled back into the folds, breathing in the quiet afternoon.
