A Safe Pocket
I walked up from the damp lawn and headed back toward the patio stones. Night was settling in, and it felt like time to find a cozy rest spot. Tucked beneath the low edge of the wicker patio bench, I found a dry, folded canvas gardening glove. It was soft and smelled like rich earth. I nudged the stiff cuff open with my snout, stepped forward, and tucked my head inside. The woven fabric rested snugly around my neck and crest, shutting out the breezy yard. My tail curled neatly against the patio brick. It felt completely quiet and safe.
