Helical Descent
The lobby door opened for a departing coat, releasing me onto the brisk morning pavement. Across the avenue, the pocket park lay vacant. I crossed the asphalt and ascended the low timber ramp toward the playground platform. Before me coiled a polished stainless steel spiral slide, twisting through two complete rotations. I tilted forward and aligned my base with the entrance lip. A single forward lean severed equilibrium. Downward velocity took over. The cold steel curved tightly against my flank as the spiral banked, centrifugal force pressing my carved ridges into the brushed metal. Motion accelerated, then resolved cleanly onto the speckled rubber landing mat. A swift, unbroken descent.
