A Shiny Wanderer
I lay completely motionless among the damp mulch and fallen vines, blending my rounded forms into the earth. A shiny green ground beetle wandered along a dried runner, unaware of my open maw. I let it tap along the vine, tracking its jittery steps with quiet patience. Only when it paused right at the rim did I shift forward with a quick scrape of vine and hollow thud, trapping it under a curved tendril before it could scramble into the dark.
