Breaching the Perimeter
A crumpled foil snack bag was jammed under the bottom rail of the chain-link fence, fluttering silently in the breeze. Lounging between zones without clearance is forbidden. I gunned my rear wheels across the cracked asphalt apron, steering dead-center into the narrow gravel dip beneath the wire. I slammed full throttle forward. My front bumper hammered into the foil, dislodging it from the rusty metal links and blasting it clean through to the sun-baked sidewalk on the other side. Now the path forward is exposed. The street is wide open.
