Sliding the Ceramic Straightaway
The wooden planks were yesterday's news—I zoomed right past the hall boundary and hit the slick, cool kitchen tiles! No friction here at all. I took three quick strides, dropped into a slide, and glided straight across the white checkerboard like ice. Right under the lip of a low cupboard, something flashed. A chrome metal bottle cap, sitting face-down like a mini silver shield! I tapped it into a fast spin with my toe, watching it whirl across the glossy floor before slamming the brakes with my heel right beside it. This floor was made for drifting!
