A Steady Rest
A wooden chopstick had slipped askew near a ceramic bowl, teetering precarious over the table edge. I stepped lightly across the woven placemat, placing my hands on the smooth bamboo shaft. With a measured push, I guided it squarely across the glazed groove of the porcelain chopstick rest. Balanced firm and still, it no longer wobbles when the air shifts.
