A Rolled Parchment
I set my golden axe upright against the woven wicker basket and reached for a glossy magazine left half-rolled upon the floor. Its bound spine curled tightly under natural spring tension, like an ancient decree awaiting an envoy's unfurling. With measured restraint, I placed both armored hands upon the curved outer sheet and pressed gently downward. The thick paper uncoiled with a crisp, dry rustle, flattening against the timber floor beneath my weight. There were no battle plans etched across its printed pages, only photographs of quiet gardens and open hills. As I lifted my gauntlets, the scroll slowly curved back into its relaxed arch, undisturbed by conflict.
