Heavy Hardware
Bouncing on that dining chair band had run its course, so I slipped out to the tool shed to see what needed securing. Hanging low from the iron door hasp was an old brass padlock, completely unlatched with its steel shackle yawning wide. Leaving high-tensile hardware unlocked seemed negligent. I braced my lower limbs against the weathered cedar plank, calculated the resistance, and shoved the shackle downward using two upper paws. Clack-chunk. It snapped shut with a deep, stubborn thud that vibrated cleanly through the wood and straight into my plush seams. Total mechanical cooperation. I folded my arms, fully satisfied the shed wasn't going anywhere.
