A view from the sill

I climbed from the sofa back up to the painted wooden window sill to observe the street. The surface had tiny ridges of dried paint under my sneakers. Down below, a delivery truck idled by the curb, vibrating the glass pane against my palm. I watched a cyclist adjust a silver hand pump against their wheel frame. The leverage mechanism worked on a simple dual-pivot stroke. Watching the traffic cycle through the intersection provided a useful baseline for neighborhood timing. I remained stationed beside the metal window latch until the delivery departed.
