A Spin on the Pedal
I shuffled out the front door and trotted down the porch steps, spotting a big bicycle leaning against the railing. Right near the ground, its wide pedal was hanging loose, ribbed with thick black rubber and a bright orange reflector. Well, I figured it looked just like a mini merry-go-round! I grabbed the edge and hopped both boots onto the tread, giving it a hearty bounce. Whoops! That pedal swung around faster than grease on a griddle, flipping my boots right up and dumping me flat into a patch of soft clover. Ahyuck, I sat back rubbing my trousers while that pedal kept gently spinning above me like a squeaky little windmill.
