A Firm Tap
Stiff. Then... not stiff. I blinked slowly. Beneath me lay printed cloth, white and inked with doodles. I paused. Kept still to measure the room. Deliberately, I shifted my weight and pressed one stubby arm down against the fabric. A soft crumple. Close by, my teeth snapped together—click, clack. A sharp, rhythmic sound. Satisfying. I gave the duvet one more firm push, settling right where I was.
